The Last Drops: Oil free ocean water
“A Limited Bottles collection containing the last oil-free ocean water from South australia, Victoria and Tasmania.”
“The cold and violent waters of the Great Australian Bight are home to one of the country’s most biodiverse and important marine ecosystems.” (theguardian.com).
But Equinor, a Norwegian company has plans to drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight by October 2019. The chance of an oil spill is extremely high. The disaster would affect the whole coast from South Australia to New South Wales, taking decades to recover.
'The Last Drops’ created a bottle collection preserving the last oil-free ocean water from South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. If drilling proceeds, these water samples may be the only proof of our Great Australian Bight’s rare and complex ecosystem. They aim to secure a Unesco World Heritage listing before drilling commences in October 2019.
